Laura Blankenship
Violin and Viola

Laura is from Kernersville, North Carolina, and she earned her bachelor’s degree in violin performance from the University of North Carolina Greensboro where she studied with Dr. Fabián López. In 2015 she earned her master’s degree in violin performance from the University of Wyoming where she studied with Dr. John Fadial. She also gained teaching experience through University of Wyoming String Project, the university’s teacher training program.

Currently Laura freelances in the Piedmont Triad and throughout North Carolina. She holds the principal second violin position in the Salisbury Symphony and performs in the Carolina Philharmonic, Fayetteville Symphony, and Western Piedmont Symphony.

Laura loves teaching and is excited to join the faculty at Upbeat Music Company. She is also a violin instructor at St. Mary’s Music Academy in High Point. She enjoys teaching students of all ages and abilities, helping them reach new levels in their playing and deepening their passion for music.

In addition to teaching and performing, Laura is an assistant orchestra librarian for the Eastern Music Festival during the summer and is a library staff member of the Salisbury Symphony.
